Circuit Training
Physical
fitness is an important goal for people of all ages. Being physically active with regular exercise
is important to your overall health and well-being. Physical activity strengthens muscles, builds
endurance, and actually increases energy and stamina. It can help to relieve stress and improve
self-esteem and feelings of well-being.
Exercise may also reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. In addition to proper diet, weight-bearing
exercise increases and maintains bone density, thus aiding in the prevention of
osteoporosis. Physical activity can help
you to reach and maintain a healthy weight.
It also lowers the risk of heart disease, colon cancer, type 2 diabetes,
and other chronic diseases.
Physical
activity simply means moving the body in order to use energy. In order to be beneficial to your health,
physical activity should be moderate or vigorous—meaning that it increases your
heart rate. It is recommended that most people do a minimum of 30 minutes of
moderate intensity activity for 30 minutes on most days of the week- preferably
every day. This should be in
addition to your daily activities.
Individuals seeking to lose weight will likely need at least 60
minutes of moderate physical activity per day. Even more activity may be required to maintain
weight loss.
