Women of Wellness, PLLC offers a comprehensive weight loss program.
We recognize that losing weight & maintaining weight loss may be among the most difficult challenges a woman faces during her lifetime. Don't do it alone! Weight loss is a journey and may have ups and downs.
We are here to guide you by providing the education & tools you need to reach your goals.
During your initial office visit, we will help you to establish goals and guide you through recommendations for healthier living. Weight loss medications may be prescribed for those individuals who are at increased
medical risk because of their weight. Prescription weight loss medications are indicated for short term
treatment of obesity or overweight and should not be used for "cosmetic" weight loss.
Phentermine (Adipex-P) is the the most commonly prescribed weight loss medications in the United States. Other weight loss medications include: Qsymia, Belviq, and Contrave. These medications help to promote weight loss by decreasing appetite or increasing satiety (the feeling of being full). They may also make you feel less hungry by increasing one or more chemical hormones in the brain that affect mood and appetite.
There are a number of risks/side effects associated with use of prescription weight loss medication. The most common include increased blood pressure and heart rate, headache, dry mouth, constipation, & insomnia.
Individuals with poorly controlled hypertension, heart disease, irregular heart rate, or history of cardiovascular event (heart attack, stroke, etc.) should not take prescription weight loss medications. Precaution should be taken in all patients with a history of abnormal blood pressure, overactive thyroid gland, and/or glaucoma.
ALL patients taking prescription weight loss medications should be monitored on a regular basis. Refills will not be given without office visit and evaluation.
